Garmin Bounce alternatives
The most expensive watch on this shelf, and a genuinely capable one. Here is what it costs and what you are paying for.
Bounce buyers are usually choosing between a kids watch and a first phone. This page adds a third option for the families who only wanted the map.
The most watch, and the biggest bill
Every watch needs its own plan
Garmin’s service terms state each kids LTE product requires its own subscription. Two children, two plans.
Without the plan, most of it stops
Garmin lists calling, messaging, LiveTrack, assistance and chores as requiring an active LTE subscription.
Two days of battery
Garmin states up to two days, and notes connected use reduces it further.
A lot of features for a small child
Games, music and activity tracking are real value for some kids and pure distraction for others.

Worn as a watch, collar, or lanyard. Not a phone, not a smartwatch, and not a monthly tracking subscription.
Garmin Bounce questions
Does Garmin Bounce need a subscription?
Yes. Garmin states LTE connectivity and the connected features require a paid plan, one per watch.
How much is Bounce 2 over two years?
About $759.75 — $399.99 for the watch plus $14.99 a month — before tax.
Is Kin One a Garmin Bounce competitor?
Only on location. Kin has no calling, no messaging, no games and no activity tracking.
Why is Kin’s battery so much longer?
Because it does far less. There is no screen to light and no music to play.
Which for a sporty ten-year-old?
Probably Bounce. The activity features are the point, and Kin does not have them.

A wrist computer, or a pin.
Bounce is the former and good at it. Kin is unapologetically the latter.
